Metamorphosis Productions International (MPI), the owner of MovieRate, made its official debut to the world of computer software with the release of our first high quality product (Canasis vA) on July 1, 1999. Our second major project was MovieRate and was officially opened to the public as MovieRate.com on October 20, 1999.
However, the company name Metamorphosis Productions International was picked long before that. In deciding the name, including words such as software, micro, or soft was much too common, unoriginal, and limited MPI to only computer software. This is why the general word "productions" was very suitable for us. The word "metamorphosis" was chosen due to its uniqueness and because it implies a certain creativity and visual stunning for computer programs. Though our company operates primarily in Canada, we make our products and services available world wide (primarily through internet), therefore we are international and location independent. The company title Metamorphosis Productions International was officially declared to the government of Canada on June 14, 1999.
The founder of MPI is a entrepreneur and computer programmer from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada by the name of Thomas Stachura (email). The first other person to work for MPI was his brother, Arthur Stachura, taking on the title of Head of Marketting.
One of the first assets bought under the company title was the domain name MPIONLINE.COM which was registered on October 20, 1998. The next asset was the domain name MOVIERATE.COM which was registered on February 7, 1999. Our first nonlocal customer purchased Canasis vA-Registered for $20US on July 15, 1999. Our Canasis Playerlist first reached 100 players shortly after on October 7, 1999, making the Canasis Online Playerlist at that time the fastest growing card game playerlist ever created on the internet.
An application for the international trademark of MOVIERATE was officially sent to the government of Canada on September 10, 1999 and now is pending completion.
Currently, our main focus is to opening an online discount store on MovieRate. We are currently expecting completion sometime in December, just in time for the Christmas sales. In the meantime, our second focus is to continue construction on MovieRate as there is still plenty of work to be done. For example, this company history section will soon have a graphical timeline.
